Almerinda M. "Marie" Burnett, 88, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at River Hills Village.
Marie was born July 4, 1923, in Bristol, Rhode Island, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Mederios Almeida. She married Melvin Burnett on June 15, 1949, in Ft. Madison.
Marie was a member of New Testament Christian Church. In addition to being a homemaker, Marie and Melvin were agents for the Iowa Parcel Post and had a star mail route.
Marie is survived by her husband, Melvin of Keokuk, Iowa; two sons, Arthur Almeida and his wife Mary, of Bristol, Rhode Island, and Ronald Burnett and his wife Connie of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Becky Robbins of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six sisters, Rose Putt of Buffalo, New York, Betty Sentell of Jacksonville, Florida, Irene Savage of Waukegan, Illinois, Katherine Bradley of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Florence Allen and Evelyn Nappi of Bristol, Rhode Island; two brothers, Virgil Almeida of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and George Almeida of Bristol, Rhode Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sixteen brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 1:00 pm at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
No visitation is planned.
