Louise E. "Weesy" Gooden, 82 years, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in Ft. Madison at her daughter Monica and son-in-law Craig's home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Vanessa Englebrecht on Oct 9, 2019

I will always remember Louise for so many fun times and always laughing and having a good time. The most fun was when we went to Spoon River Drive or on one of our shopping trips. We would not be home until at least midnight. She was one person who could shop longer than me and that is saying something!! I remember being in Iowa City shopping and it was getting late. We had hit most of the stores and most of them were closing or getting ready to close. The rest of us were tired and shopped-out and Louise said "well, I think Younkers is still open, let's go there". I thought to myself, wow, did she get a second wind, or just hasn't lost her first wind. I think she could have shopped until the sun came up if the stores would stay open that long. And to be honest, I would have trudged right along with her, telling stories and laughing the whole time :) She always had a hug and kiss for everyone and made everyone feel special; that was just her way. Louise, I never did call you mom, but you were just like a mother to me and I will miss you dearly. Until we meet again ... xoxo
