Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Lynn Kite, Sr, 79, of Keokuk, passed away early Sunday morning, April 26, 2020, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Jerry was born in Keokuk, Iowa, to Addison Eugene and Laura Mae (Reynolds) Kite on May 13, 1940. He was united in marriage to Leta Jeaneane Sackman on September 2, 1960 in Keokuk. She preceded him in death by December 3, 2019.

Jerry has been a lifelong resident of Keokuk. He entered the United States Air Force after High School and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from the war, Jerry obtained employment with the City of Keokuk as a general laborer and worked there until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Faith Family Church, a former member of the Keokuk Jaycees, former member of Keokuk Eagles Club and the American Legion Post #41.

Jerry is survived by six children; Gerald "Butch" Kite, Jr. of Keokuk, Louann (Grossman) Foster (Mark) of Keokuk, Laura (Kite) Egley (Todd) of Keokuk, Renee J. Kite of Keokuk, Larry W. Kite of Keokuk, and Terry E. Kite (Joni) of Keokuk, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and several great nieces and nephews, three brothers; Junior Kite, Thomas Kite, Laurance Kite, three sisters; Mary Lou Temple, Margianne Wooldridge and Carol St. Clair.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, there will only be a private family viewing at this time. The family will hold a memorial service at a later time for those that would like to honor Jerry.
