p>Henry Frederick Krueger, 87, of Keokuk, passed away at 8:30 P.M. Thursday evening, February 10, 2022, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Henry was born December 16, 1934, the son of Roy L. and Ruth S. (Snyder) Krueger in Keokuk. He graduated from Keokuk High School and went on to attain his degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Iowa. On June 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Frances Bloom at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk. He served in various management roles for the Hubinger Company in Keokuk from 1957 to 1975. Henry made a midlife career change and began working in the financial services industry before ultimately opening Krueger Brokerage, where he worked with his son Dan until his retirement in 2015. Henry was an active community member serving on the boards of Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk County Club and Trinity United Methodist church finance committee. He was also a member of Rotary and the Jaycees, where he was active for many years with the Keokuk Street Fair and was named Iowa’s Jaycee Man of the Year in the 1970’s. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Iowa and fanatically supported Hawkeye sports. Henry was an avid fisherman, master gardener and incredible cook who loved and supported his children and grandchildren and the community of Keokuk.
Henry is survived by his wife, Frances, of Keokuk; daughter, Kris (Kelly Ritch) Krueger of Durham, North Carolina; two sons, Dan (Diana) Krueger of Keokuk and Doug (Tanya) Krueger of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, Ethan and Claire Ritch, Kelly (Anthony) Peavy, and Kole, Katherine, Grace, Ben and Anna Krueger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Diane Hughes, Roy “Bob” Krueger, Jr., Martha Acer and Sally Dains.
Visitation with family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk.. Memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s choice. DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home of Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
