Janet Louise Mann

Janet Louise Mann 77, of Hamilton, formerly of Keokuk, passed away at Blessing Hospital in Quincy IL on Friday, January 20, 2023.

Janet was born February 9, 1945, the daughter of William Francis and Mary Louise (Knoche) Mitchell in Warsaw, Illinois.  She was united in marriage to Jack Malloy and he preceded her in death.  She was later married to Jack Mann and he also preceded her in death.  Janet had worked for APAC in Keokuk for many years and for Cardellas.  She also was a cook at the Labor Temple and a dental hygienist for several years.  She served as a judge for the Labor Temple parade for many years.  She and her husband also played Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for over twenty years in the Keokuk area to many children’s delight.  She enjoyed softball and was a lifeguard and swimming instructor for many years at the Keokuk Swimming Pool and received an official Keokuk Pool Life Chair for her years of service. In 1962, Janet won the Iowa State Synchronized Swimming championship. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Janet is survived by a granddaughter, Morgan Burns; nieces and nephew, Joy (Joe) Groseclose, Jennifer (Mike) Hamman, David Young and Amy Burgess; a brother-in-law, Dale Young and several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephew and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Jacky Patrick Malloy; three sisters, Joan Young, Sandy Burgess and Patty Mitchell; and a brother, Donald Lee Mitchell.

A visitation will be held at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 PM.

Memorials may be directed to Macomb Acute Care Center or the Musician's Memorial in Keokuk.
