Joyce Marie (Gilpin) Sackman, 81, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Joyce was born on February 16, 1941, in Alsey, Illinois, the daughter of William and Vivian (Sellars) Gilpin. On November 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to George “Buddy” Sackman, Jr., in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.

Joyce is survived by three children: Janet (John) Pearl, George (Manny) Sackman, III, Loretta (Vernon) McKay; two sisters: Mary Sommers and Anna Juffers; three brothers: Jack Gilpin, Charlie (Quinda) Gilpin and Dennis (Jeanie) Gilpin; ten grandchildren: Wesley (Christina) Pearl, Crystal Pearl, Jessica (Josh) Crenshaw, Shilah Kiger, Lauren (Lance) Buckert, Brant Sackman, Tyler Sackman, Steven McKay, William (Cassie) McKay and Justin McKay; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two brothers-in-law and one niece.

Joyce loved strawberry slushies from Sonic and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

There will be no service. The family will be meeting friends and family at the Heritage Center in Keokuk, Iowa, on Friday, March 11, from 4 to 7 pm.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
