Kathy Jean Meyers

Kathy Jean Meyers, 64, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at her home in Donnellson, Iowa.

Kathy was born on May 20, 1958, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Edmund and Elizabeth Ann (Bevering) Meyers. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1976 and went on to receive her Bachelors in Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1981 followed also by her Masters in Education in 1989. Kathy received her doctorate in Higher Education with emphasis in Student Development from the University of Iowa in 1999.

Kathy was employed in the financial aid department at several different colleges in the Southeast Iowa and West Central Illinois areas. She was involved in writing grants and assisting students and Veterans in obtaining financial aid for their education. She received many awards for her dedication and hard work. Kathy had a heart of gold and was always helping and taking care of others. She enjoyed sending care packages to soldiers overseas. Kathy was also a Hawkeye Fan. Education and family were her whole life. The love she had for her family had no limits and was the most genuine, selfless kind of love a person can give. Kathy took great pride in being a ‘grandma’ to her nieces and nephews. She adored them as they did her. Kathy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keokuk.

Kathy is survived by seven siblings: Richard (Gail) Meyers of Keokuk, Iowa, Patty Schlobohm of Raleigh, North Carolina, Susie (Randy) Crawford of Bedford, Texas, Donald (Jeri) Meyers of Fort Madison, Iowa, Michelle Hageman of Farmington, Iowa, Kevin Meyers of Ankeny, Iowa, and Chris (Stephanie) Meyers of Keokuk, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers: Carl, Paul Jr. and Steve.

Visitation will be held at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home on Saturday, December 31, 2022, with family meeting friends from Noon-1:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at the Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Spina Bifida Association or Lee County Youth Services.
