Kevin Queen Obituary

Kevin Brent Queen, 63, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020, at Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, Illinois.
Kevin was born on November 4, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Robert W. and Martha (Hatch) Queen. He graduated from Keokuk High School and received his gunsmithing certificate from Southeast Community College in Keokuk. Kevin was married to Audrey Queen for thirty-four years. They were later divorced.
A lifelong resident of Keokuk, Kevin was employed as a school bus driver for thirty years, until his retirement in 2018. He loved all the children he transported, no matter how mischievous they were. Kevin proudly served his country in the United States National Guard, serving overseas in Germany and during Operation Desert Storm. While he was deployed, many of the children he drove would send him letters, all of which he kept. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed everything the great outdoors had to offer. He could often be found fishing, hunting squirrels, pheasants and racoons, trap shooting at the Keokuk Yacht Club, or shooting pool with his friends. He had several unique hobbies, including gunsmithing, racing stock cars and panning for gold in Alaska. Kevin was a proud member of the NRA and the Lake Cooper Anglers Association in Fort Madison.
Kevin is survived by his daughter Tiffany Marliere of Keokuk; his mother Martha Queen of Keokuk; two brothers: Terry (Sheila) Queen of Hamilton and Alan (Vicky) Queen of Keokuk; three grandchildren: Brent Atterberg, Ace Marliere and Jacey Marliere, all of Keokuk; three step-grandchildren: Camarea Freeman, Jaszmon Perez and Doenada Perez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin is also survived by his best friend and constant companion, his dog Gen.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father Robert W. Queen.
Kevin's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 11 am on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home at 917 Blondeau Street, with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 17, from 12 pm to 8 pm, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 pm.
Memorials may be directed to the Kevin Queen Memorial Scholarship.
