Lonnie Bryant Obituary

Lonnie Dean Bryant, 80, of Keokuk, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home in Keokuk.

Lonnie was born on December 28, 1942, in Keokuk, the son of Wayne and Ellen (Mortimer) Bryant. On August 30, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sierra “Sue” Bryant in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2016.

Lonnie was employed at Foote Mineral, JH Wilkins and Sill Motors, before finishing his working career at Alliance Patterns. He also owned Bryant Mobile Home Park for twenty-one years. Lonnie proudly served his country in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving anywhere he could. Lonnie was also a member of the South Side Boat Club, the Keokuk Yacht Club, the American Legion Post #41, and the Lee County Honor Guard. He was an advocate for people with special needs and volunteered at Bridgeway. Above all, Lonnie’s life was centered around his grandchildren, and he would do anything for them.

Lonnie is survived by his daughter Dianna (Christopher) Vass of Keokuk; son Steven Edward "Eddy" (Raelynn) Bryant of Keokuk; girlfriend Linda Altheide of Keokuk; three siblings: Larry (Connie) Bryant of Farmers Branch, Texas, Wanda Daubenberger of Springdale, Arkansas, and Janice (Bill) Hayden of Alexandria, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Mersades Snively, Shadee Tajeddin, Chase Bryant, Sira (Joe) Curfman, Alexus (Casey) Romo, Brittany Bryant, Rayden Winkler-Bryant and Xailynn Bryant; twelve great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Layonna, Kiera, Remira, Kazzarian, Meriah, JoJo, Jayce, Hannah, Davian, Alonna and Aubree; Dimitre and Trevor Galbreath, who he saw as grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sue; his daughter Connie Bryant; his son Lonnie Dean Bryant, II; and four siblings: Kenny Bryant, Marilyn Jean Spence, Melvin Bryant and Ernest Wayne Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Keokuk, with Pastor John Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Buena Vista (Big Mound) Cemetery in Keokuk, with military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #41. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk.
