Mildred L. (Piersee) Ewing

Mildred L. Ewing, 94, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa.

Mildred was born on July 31, 1927, in Keokuk, the daughter Arthur and Velma (Wise) Piersee. On July 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Ewing in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2009.

Mildred worked at Sheller-Globe in Keokuk for many years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist in Keokuk. She enjoyed spending her free time reading novels and doing needlepoint. She was hard-working and helped her husband fix up their home on Des Moines Street. Mildred will always be remembered for her caring and thoughtful personality.

Mildred is survived by her son Craig Ewing of Keokuk; her daughter Diane (Tom) Carlson of Keokuk; six grandchildren: Tim (Stephanie) Ewing of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Amy (Shaun) Waldemer of Phoenix, Arizona, Douglas (Mimi) Ewing of Keokuk, Chad (Krystal) Ewing of Hamilton, Illinois, Jason Ewing of Keokuk and Brett Carlson of Keokuk; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; her sons Doug and Stuart Ewing; her sister Gladys Dunlap; and her brothers Lester and Howard Piersee.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 am at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home at 11:15 am following the visitation.
