Patricia L. (Hall) Hammel

Patricia Louise Hammel, 85, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Patricia was born on August 16, 1936, in Keokuk, the daughter of Jesse W. and Mary Louise (Armstrong) Hall. She was united in marriage to Lester Joseph Hammel on April 19, 1953, in Keokuk, and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2005.

Patricia worked briefly at the hospital in Keokuk and at K-Mart and spent most of her younger years raising her children. She was talented at crocheting and won a blue ribbon for a crocheted doll. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, pottery, ceramics, and bowling.

Patricia is survived by two sons: Rick Hammel of Palmyra, Missouri, and Doug (Chris) Hammel of Keokuk, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Brenda, Justin, Doug, Grace, Brandon, Matthew and Garrett; five great-grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Ethan, Brooklynn and Bentley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, two sons: Kenneth and Lester, and two brothers: William and Alfred Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Little Mound Cemetery in rural Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday directly before the service.
