Theresa Roman, 83, of Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.
Theresa was born on September 5, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Enrique and Antonia (Gomez) Rocha. Theresa was of the Catholic faith and was employed in Human Resources and Social Work for the city of Chicago for many years. As a single mother, Theresa worked hard to provide for her family, often taking on side jobs to ensure a future for her children. She was a savvy businesswoman, and used her success to bless others. Theresa was bi-lingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and used this talent to give advice to those who needed assistance filling out paperwork and other tasks. She had a generous spirit, and often opened her home and holiday meals to those less fortunate. In her later years, she enjoyed watching TV shows with her favorite snacks and spending time with her family.
Theresa is survived by three children: Debra (John) Heath of Keokuk, Alfonso Canet of Florida and Rocko Roman of Chicago; six grandchildren: Christina (Brian) Boltz of Keokuk, Johnathon (Ashley) Heath of Kentucky, Tiffany (Dylan) Finch of Idaho, and Ashley, Max and Rocko Roman, all of Chicago; four great-grandchildren: Eli, Bella, Lily and Milo Boltz; a great-grandson Johnathon Heath on the way; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Theresa is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Mazuca, and her brother Jessie Rocha.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, Illinois, with Pastor John Heath officiating.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
