Thomas "Stan" Burris Obituary

Thomas Stanley “Stan” Burris, 93, of Keokuk, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa.

Stan was born on November 15, 1929, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Thomas Nelson “Neils” and Madeline (Shaffer) Burris. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a union carpenter for forty years. Stan was a member of Local 1260, the American Legion and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and watching sports, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Hawkeyes.

Stan is survived by two sons: Tracy Burris of Keokuk and Rome Burris of Texas; four grandchildren: Zachary (Lindsay), Elijah, Jeremy, and Nathan Burris; and three great-grandchildren: Charlie Arrowood, Isaac Burris and Gabriel Burris.

Stan is preceded in death by two sisters: Paula Burris and Ardeen Marlett.

Private burial will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery.
