Vera Mae Neuendorf, 92, long-time resident of the Keokuk area, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa.
Vera was born at home in rural Farmington, Iowa, on June 12, 1929, the daughter of James Edward and Vacil Mae (Park) Anthony. She attended Farmington, Iowa high school. Vera was united in marriage to Jackie “Jack” Ferris Neuendorf on September 24, 1947.He preceded her in death on June 19, 2015.
Vera was employed as a bank teller at Farmington Bank where she made many friends. Then she discovered her love for sewing and became an extremely talented seamstress. Vera had a revolving door of people in her home for fittings. She also enjoyed gardening in her spare time. Vera was a 4H leader and a Sunday School teacher. She attended First Baptist Church and United Presbyterian Church of Keokuk. Vera always considered raising her children as her most important and treasured job.
Vera is survived by two children: Mark (Kelly) Neuendorf and Debby (Stephen) Baum, both of Keokuk, Iowa; three grandchildren: Patrick Willis (Carmalitta) Baum, Andrea Melody (Casey) Long and Michael Anthony Neuendorf and several great-grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk followed by a family luncheon and then burial at the Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the funeral home from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. with family meeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
